Siege Engineering

Ever wanted to destroy that castle or fortification (maybe your bosses office? – HA!)?  How about storm a castle or ram down the gate?  Ever wanted to build a Siege Tower? How about a Mangonel or a Trebuchet?

Talking from first hand experience you might think, “Ah this is gonna be no sweat. All I gotta do is load this here ammo thusly and pull on this here cord and watch ‘er go.” What might look like the easiest to run engine could still mean a lot of running around and a major stamina draining endeavor.  But it is all worth it.  Nothing like watching your ammo fly well over the 6’ish wall to land far beyond and think, “Wow!  If that wall was bigger, if there were enemy soldiers back there, that would have been an awesome shot!”.

Its a lot of work to build an engine.  Its not something to undertake with a light heart.  And its another to get it running just right.  Even our first endeavor took over a year to build and its still not where we’d like it to be.  But it runs really well and its a lot of fun to pull out of the garage and use.  Not a lot of people in the area are Siege Engineers, Operators, or Marshals, but I know that there is a lot of interest and that Siege warfare is gaining momentum around the area.
